Matcha Info

Matcha is all about personal preferences and blends. There's no definitive "good" or "bad" matcha. It’s all about what suits your taste, recipes, and intended use. We encourage you to explore and experiment with different varieties to discover what you enjoy most.

If you’re new to enjoying matcha tea, we can provide you with some general guidance to help you get started.

Chun Matcha Ceremonial Grade - our smoothest, most refined matcha with a vibrant green color, silky texture, and delicate umami flavor. With no bitterness, this blend is perfect for those who enjoy matcha on its own or want the highest quality for any preparation, including lattes and other blended drinks.

Chun Matcha Premium Grade - a more pronounced matcha with a subtle bitterness that enhances its depth, especially when paired with milk or sweeteners. This blend ensures the matcha flavor remains distinct in lattes and other preparations.

Why does organic matter?

In fact, most non-organic matcha cannot even enter the Netherlands due to pesticide levels that exceed legal limits.

Matcha is a health-conscious product, and choosing organic ensures that you're enjoying it in its purest form, free from chemical residues.

The difference between organic and non-organic matcha is so significant that, in Japan, they are regarded as two distinct industries.

Organic matcha is cultivated without synthetic pesticides or chemical fertilizers. Instead, farmers use natural techniques such as composting, crop rotation, and biological pest control to support soil health and plant vitality. This results in a cleaner, more natural taste, free from chemical residues. However, organic matcha may have a slightly less vibrant color or milder flavor compared to non-organic matcha, as the latter often benefits from cheap chemical fertilizers that boost chlorophyll production and intensify flavor.
