The matcha bamboo whisk, or chasen, is an essential tool for traditional Japanese tea ceremonies and preparing matcha at home. The whisk features finely carved strings that are both flexible and durable. The strings are designed to froth matcha powder effortlessly, creating a smooth, creamy texture with a rich layer of foam.
How to use: A bamboo whisk is essential for preparing matcha. Before using the whisk, soak the bristles in a cup of hot water to allow them to bloom, which enhances flexibility and prolongs durability.
Cleaning: After use, rinse it under running water and gently remove any remaining matcha with your fingers. Allow the whisk to dry thoroughly before storing it. Placing it in a case while still damp can lead to mould growth.
Tip: Replace the whisk when the tips begin to break off.
