Growing together: Our partnerships with fashion retailer UNIQLO

A refreshing summer drink: AIRism iced tea

Back in the summer of 2021, fashion retailer UNIQLO approached us with something exciting. They were about to introduce their AIRism collection to Amsterdam. This line builds on innovation, comfort and breathability, and one that hadn’t yet hit other stores in Europe. They wanted a launch that felt fresh, local, and connected.

We became part of the AIRism launch as it was a meeting of minds: UNIQLO's clean, considered design and our craft of drinks. To capture the feel of AIRism, we served the AIRism iced tea: Yakult green tea with watermelon juice. 

This co-creation was served only during the Amsterdam launch and it marked the start of a partnership we were genuinely proud of.

Matcha pop-ups: Where we met you

Chun Café represents a new wave of Asian-owned hospitality: rooted in heritage, but shaped by the creative energy of today. We bring together tradition and innovation, just like UNIQLO does with fashion. As it became clear that we both shared an appreciation for thoughtfulness, simplicity, and quality, our partnership naturally continued afterward.

When we brought our matcha into UNIQLO stores, it wasn’t just about serving drinks, it was about sharing our similarities.

With every pop-up, we started to notice familiar faces. Some of UNIQLO's customers came specifically for the matcha lattes. Even the staff would mention, “I hoped you’d be here again!”. Those small connections meant a lot. 

Naturally, we were becoming part of each other's community.

UNIQLO's HEATTECH x Mobile bar

UNIQLO's HEATTECH is an innovative thermal clothing line designed to keep you warm without the bulk of traditional winter wear. UNIQLO typically promotes its HEATTECH line during the autumn and winter months, aligning with the colder seasons when customers seek thermal wear.

As part of their promotional activities, we were asked to station a mobile cart in their store to serve warm drinks. During this event, we introduced our seasonal hot matcha white chocolate to a wider audience.

We served it from a mobile cart parked near the entrance of the store, showcasing the HEATTECH products on the shelves behind us. People were curious at first and not everyone was familiar with matcha, but the reactions were very positive.

Seasons and store openings

Over time, our collaborations with UNIQLO naturally began to follow the rhythm of the seasons. Each season brought its own mood and each activity reflected that, with something thoughtfully tailored to the moment.

Autumn 2024 brought the opening of UNIQLO's new store on Koningsplein. As the weather turned cooler, we arrived with our mobile cart once again with warm matcha lattes, freshly brewed coffee, and our signature matcha cookies.

Following the opening of the Amstelveen store in spring 2025, we introduced iced yuzu tea alongside our familiar warm matcha and coffee. The offering felt light and refreshing.

What made these moments special wasn’t simply the drinks or the venues, but the people we met along the way. Guests often shared that they’d meant to visit our café for a long time but never found the time.

Meeting us at a different location became a shared experience that people genuinely looked forward to, season after season.
